Who is Nologaten-Gallery ?

Nologaten-Gallery is a branch of Anjani Art Gallery, an integrated art-shop with simple cafe where located in Jalan Raya Nologaten (around 600 meter from Ambarukmo Plaza), Yogyakarta, Indonesia. In this cafĂ©, some pyrography products displayed and sales. This gallery established in 2017 by Samuel family siblings’, named Kurnia Budhi (collaborated with Wuriyanto Nugroho).

What is pyrography? Originally, pyrography is the art of decorating wood or other materials with burn marks resulting from the controlled application of a heated object such as mono-focus sun-glass, fire-spray, iron-solder, etc. The process of pyrography has been practiced by a number of cultures in the world, including the Egyptians and some African tribes since the dawn of recorded history. In the 17th century, pyrography reached its highest standard with its sophisticated-tools, and now pyrography product is also known as fire-painting (lukisan-bakar) since there are some artists have developed in contemporary fine-arts within recent century. Pyrography is totally different thing with Ukiyo-e (Japanese wood painting art).

Since pyrography product in Indonesia is still a rare art, Nologaten Gallery tries to facilitate and develop Indonesia the quality product and expertise of phyrographer, and sell their products in this gallery. Nologaten-Gallery also collaborated and linked with some pyrography producers in Indonesia and related artists to increase the quality and creativity of products to be sale.

Meanwhile visitors enjoy coffee with a certain taste during in this gallery, also they could observe and buy pyrography products at reasonable price as souvenirs from the city of Yogyakarta. Visit it before you told the unique story to others…!!!
